Bangkok studio Department of Architecture have installed these rippling fins into the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. The lobby is situated on the 17th floor of a tower that overlooks the beach. The concept of this installation is to direct the user from the elevators in the centre of the space towards the windows and sea views beyond. The air conditioning causes the fabric sheets to sway and ripple across the ceiling; this brings the atmosphere and characteristics of the sea and sea breeze into the interior.

Stockholm Design Week...
Architects Claesson Koivisto Rune presented this layered lamp fpr Swedish brand Orsjo Belsning at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2011.
Called Baklava, the design has a shade comprising three layers of fabric drawn together with string.
Designed by star-architects Claesson Koivisto Rune, Baklava’s unique triple-layered shade is reminiscent of the thin pastry layers in the Turkish delicacy which gave rise to the name.
The structure of the shade has been designed to allow the bottom part to glow in a different colour to the main light.
Initially designed for the interior of the exclusive new Nobis Hotel, Stockholm, Baklava will look equally stunning in any commercial or domestic environment...

KIWI&POM- Disco Chair.
Commissioned by Wallpaper* Magazine, the Disco Chair is a bespoke illuminated furniture concept. Constructed from 200 linear metres of Electroluminescent wire, the chair transforms into a neon rainbow when powered. A pulse setting enables the chair to flash on and off creating an instant disco installation.
New Swish Textiles Company: Creation Baumann.
I found a really interesting video for an interview of the managing director: Philippe Baumann of a new swish textiles design company called Creation Baumann. Philippe Baumann talks about the company and textiles they make. They use natural fibre such as cotton, silk and linen and create textiles that is "fabric of the century."
Furniture Fair Salone del Mobile 2009
I have found a video of a 2009 fair in Milan showing some of the contemporary furniture in the show. It looks at the materials and texture of each piece and shows people interacting and using them. The video also looks at lighting and all the different design companies. Enjoy!
Below is an interview with an architect called Oscar Tusquets, co-founder of the design company called Bb Barcelona Design. He talks about the designs of the furniture, the materials, manufactures and the company and how they came about. Tusquets also explains and describes some of the styles and designs of the furniture in the Milan show.
Hotel W. in Barcelona.
The Hotel W of Barcelona, designed by Richard Bofill opened in October 2009, features Barrisol Lumiere Colour stretched ceiling. Thanks to the relationship between the textile installation and it's varied lighting system with colour changes, it creates a unique, modern and soft ambience.
This provides surprise and astonishment to the affect of the interior as compared to the coastal views of the exterior of the Hotel
